Suggestion/Comment
“On your newspaper kiosk, you have the Wisconsin State Journal. Why not include the Capital Times as well?”
Response
Thank you for your suggestion to include the Capital Times to our newspaper collection. When the Ebling Library received a small grant to purchase popular reading materials, we surveyed the students in the library and around the HSLC. We gave them an extended list of magazines and newspapers to select from. Based on that survey we bought 13 magazine titles and 4 newspapers. The fiction and non-fiction book selections are based on a variety of best-seller lists and are from donations. Unfortunately, the library recently lost continued grant money to support the popular reading materials. We haven’t made any final decisions but we are hoping that we can continue to provide at least some of the well used magazines, newspapers, and books in the future.
For future purchase recommendations, you may also fill our a purchase recommendation form from the Ebling Library website at: http://ebling.library.wisc.edu/services/collection/purchase_request.cfm

Suggestion/Comment
Other libraries on campus have printed 8 1/2″ X 11″ pieces of paper that people can take with themselves–giving hours of operation of the various libraries on campus. This is especially helpful when school is not in session. Why do you not do likewise? Get some of those sheets out here! (Jan.9, 2008)
Response
We do have the same handouts as the other campus libraries use. There is always an ample supply kept on our handout wall, as well as just off the end of the desk. If you ever are unable to find anything that you would like or need, please ask library staff for assistance. Thanks for your comment.

Suggestion/Comment
This library is the biggest asset that UW Medical School has. It is a joy to work in this setting. I challenge all medicine and allied health instructors to develop activities to bring students into this library regularly. I bring my 80 year old mother here. She sits and reads under a blanket and derives her own enjoyment from use of the library.
Thanks and bravo to all of you!
Response
Thank you for your wonderful comments. The staff at Ebling Library is always striving to make our library as welcoming as possible.

Suggestion
“Would someone please deal with the newspaper subscriptions. All four of the current daily papers are not there. The Wisconsin State Journal hasn’t been received in about two weeks. Thank you!”
Response
Thank you for your concern. Please check the magazine and newspaper rack frequently, as sometimes the newspapers are being used elsewhere in the library by other patrons. Our subscriptions to the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Chicago Tribune have been uninterrupted and we do not know of any problems with their delivery. We did however have an issue with our Wisconsin State Journal subscription, which we have now resolved. You should again see the State Journal sitting in it usual place daily. thank you

Suggestion
“Get an office/machine over here where one can consolidate multiple debit cards. There is only one such machine on campus in Memorial Library on the 3rd floor.”
Response
Debit Card Central at Memorial Library is in charge of all debit card issues and it is up to them to decide where machines reside on campus. At this time, they offer this service only in their office. We are happy to send your cards to Debit Card Central for consolidation. This takes approximately one week.
